PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — An 80-year-old woman was punched in the face during an alleged robbery on Wednesday night in Providence, according to police.

It happened at I Love Mexico Restaurant on Smith Street.

The male suspect allegedly entered the restaurant with a knife and punched the woman.

After striking her, he allegedly took several thousand dollars from her purse and fled.

Officials said robbery detectives are currently investigating the incident.
