Man convicted of scamming more than $10K from Freetown family

FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River District Court said that a 51-year-old man was convicted of scamming a Freetown family out of more than $10,000.

Jeffrey Trifone was charged with larceny over $250.

The court said that in 2021 Trifone told the victim that he could complete a swimming pool installation between May and July, despite longer wait time from other companies due to the pandemic.

The victim said that Trifone showed him other pools he had allegedly installed, and that after he paid $12,000 Trifone stopped responding to his calls.

No work was ever completed  and no materials ordered or delivered to  the victim’s home.

Trifone was sentenced to serve two years in the Bristol County House of Corrections.
