Mom to be arraigned after allegedly leaving infant in truck during heat

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — A mom facing charges of cruelty and child neglect will be arraigned today.

55-year-old Lorrie Carter of Foster is being accused of leaving her 7-month-old infant in the car while she went shopping.

On Aug. 4 Lincoln Police said they responded to calls of an unattended baby left inside of a truck at the Lincoln Mall.

When police arrived they said they found an infant in the truck that was turned off, with the passenger side window cracked a quarter inch and all the doors locked.

Police said the outside temperature was 81 degrees and it was 84 degrees inside the truck.

The infant was safely removed.
