PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — United Way of Rhode Island has announced that they will be launching the “United We Vote” campaign.

According to a release, the campaign is dedicated to increasing voter participation and ensuring every voice in Rhode Island is heard in the 2024 elections.

United Way said the campaign focuses particularly on engaging BIPOC communities, young voters, elderly and disabled individuals, low-income residents, and rural populations.

“These communities often face the greatest barriers to voting, and their voices are crucial for a representative democracy,” stated the release.

The campaign will focus on comprehensive voter education, outreach, and support services.

The Rhode Island statewide primary election is on September 10 and the general election scheduled for November 5.

Some ways to prepare for this upcoming election include:

1. Register to vote here.

2. If you are already registered, verify that the name and address on the government-issued ID that you will bring to the polling place on election day matches your voter registration here.

3. If you have questions about where to vote, when to vote, or how to vote, call 211.
