UPDATE: Victim identified from early morning New Bedford homicide, suspect in custody

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s office has identified the victim of the early morning homicide on Tuesday in New Bedford.

58-year-old Stephen Oswald of New Bedford was identified as the victim of the reported homicide.

New Bedford police responded at approximately 3:40 a.m. to reports of a male with an injury at the Seabra Foods store.

Responding personnel located Oswald suffering from an apparent head injury, and he was pronounced dead by New Bedford EMS at 3:56 a.m.

Officials said 31-year-old Nina Busnengo of Mattapoisett is the suspect in custody. Busnengo has been charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

Busnengo is expected to be arraigned tomorrow morning at the New Bedford District Court according to officials.
