Man arrested for shoplifting, firearm charges in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River man is facing several charges after police said he stole merchandise from a Kohl’s in Darmouth.
According to police, on Saturday August 17, officers responded to a call regarding an alleged shoplifter.
38-year-old Carlos Pina Silva of Fall River reportedly left Kohl’s in a black sedan and was soon located and stopped in a traffic stop.
After a brief investigation, officers located the stolen merchandise and a small amount of suspected crack cocaine.
Officers also located a loaded .22 caliber firearm with a defaced serial number in the trunk of the car.
Silvia was charged with shoplifting by asportation , receiving a firearm with a defaced number, improper storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card and possession of a class B drug.
