UPDATE: 52-year-old man dead after domestic incident in Warwick

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – The Warwick Police Department said that a 52-year-old man is dead after a domestic incident today.
Police said that at 1 p.m. members of the Warwick Police responded to a residence on Spofford Ave. to check on the well-being of a man possibly in possession of a firearm.
During an initial check the man was not found, and officers began a search of the area.
At approximately 3 p.m., officers said they learned that the man had returned to the house with the firearm.
Police said the man violated a no-contact order during a domestic incident that led to SWAT being called.
As a precaution, a perimeter was established and several neighboring residences were evacuated, police said.
The state police bomb squad was called to assist, as it had equipment the Warwick department did not have access to.
Warwick Police SWAT made entry into the house and found the 52-year-old man dead.
The scene was cleared around 7 p.m. and neighbors were able to return to their homes.
Officials said detectives are currently investigating the events leading up to and surrounding the death.
