South Kingstown police arrest three for DUI in separate incidents on same day

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — According to police, individuals are facing DUI charges in separate incidents on the same day.

Around 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle driving into a building on Grand Isle Drive.

Officers found 36-year-old Thomas Ashley of Wakefield showed signs of impairment and refused to submit to a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and a chemical test.

Ashley was charged with DUI (BAC unknown) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

He was arrested and arraigned at Washington County District Court.

Police said the building inspector evaluated the building and found minor structural damage.

Also around 10:30 p.m., police said they observed a vehicle speeding on Kingstown Road.

58-year-old Michael Comire was stopped and admitted to consuming alcohol.

After failing a series of SFSTs, Comire was arrested and charged with DUI (BAC unknown), refusal to submit to a chemical test, and speeding.

Earlier in the morning, officers also conducted a traffic stop on Ministerial Road around 11:13 a.m. after  the operator was observed traveling at a high rate of speed.

55-year-old Travis Pease of Carolina was allegedly found with an open alcoholic beverage containers in his vehicle.

After failing a series of SFSTs, Pease was arrested and charged with DUI (BAC unknown), refusal to submit to a chemical test, speeding, and presence of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle.
