Recover Fall River to host events in honor of Overdose Awareness Month

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Recover Fall River will be hosting a memorial on Saturday, August 31 in honor of Overdose Awareness Month.
Overdose Awareness Month is a month dedicated to raising awareness to overdoses and ending the stigma of addiction.
According to the Department of Health, there were 2,125 confirmed and estimated opioid-related overdose deaths in 2023.
On Tuesday August 27, Recover Fall River is asking individuals to bring a poster of your loved one outside of City Hall beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Families and loved ones will be standing at different locations throughout the city on that day.
On August 31, resources and a memorial display will happen at the north side of city hall, followed by speakers and a procession.
The event starts at 5:30 p.m.
