Providence School Board to discuss decision on state to keep control

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence School Board will speak about the state’s decision to keep control of the district today.
The Rhode Island Council on Elementary and Secondary Education accepted a proposal to continue state intervention into Providence Public Schools for up to three years.
The state took control over the district in 2019.
Providence School Board President Erlin Rogel released a statement calling the decision “disappointing.”
State and local leaders are expected to be at the meeting tonight.
