Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association tell residents to Drive Sober for Labor Day
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association said it is reminding motorists to drive sober during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
The association said that additional patrols will be throughout the state looking for impaired drivers.
“We are all responsible for making our roads safe this holiday weekend,” Association President and Warwick Police Chief Bradford Connor said. “If you choose to drive impaired, we have additional patrols out and the consequences of being arrested for impaired driving are severe and life-changing.”
The association cited a statistic from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association which said that during the 2022 Labor Day holiday, there were 490 traffic fatalities across the nation, 39% of which involved a drunk driver.
