Cranston Police arrest 3 following graduation party

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Three people were arrested by Cranston Police following an investigation into a high school graduation party gone wild on the evening of June 9th.
Cranston Police were contacted after one 18-year-old guest was transported from the party to Rhode Island Hospital, suffering from a possible overdose.
Police said Kimberly Ruggiero, 40, of Cranston and Carolyn Bird, 46, of East Providence were arrested for violating the state’s social host laws after providing alcohol and marijuana to the guests at Ruggiero’s home.
Ruggiero was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Purchase/Procurement of Alcohol for Minors. She was released on bail and is expected to appear in Third District court July 10th.
Cranston Police say Bird turned herself in on Wednesday. She was charged with Misdemeanor Purchase/Procurement of Alcohol for Minors and Felony Distribution of Schedule V to Minors. She was released on $10,000 personal recognizance and will appear in Superior Court on September 13th.
Cranston Police also arrested Joseph Kirtland, 24, of East Greenwich after he reportedly sexually assaulted an 18-year-old guest at the party while she was incapacitated.
Kirtland was arraigned on one count of First Degree Sexual Assault, and will be held without bail ahead of his next appearance in Third District court on July 9th.
