NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) – Narragansett Police have announced they’ve arrested 22 URI students since Labor Day.

According to police, the arrests range from underage drinking and drinking in public to providing fake IDs and violating the recently implemented public nuisance ordinance.

The order is when five or more people gather on public or private property and “disturb the quiet.”

Those who violate the ordinance face up to $500 dollars in fines.

A statement from Narragansett Police Chief said officers will continue to arrest and prosecute student-renters and those students are “urged to show respect for each other, the police, and the community at large.”

A statement from URI about the arrests said student’s actions “may result in sanctions, including suspension or dismissal, in addition to any local action taken.”

Meanwhile, Narragansett Police released the identities of the two URI students accused of assaulting an officer Friday.

Police say 20-year-old Jake Dignam and 21-year-old Cody Calkins were arrested on multiple charges after what officials are calling an unruly party in a Bonnet Shores Neighborhood.

No one was hospitalized during the incident.

Both men will be arraigned on September 17.
