Three displaced after Swansea fire

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — Three occupants of a home in Swansea are being assisted by the Red Cross after a fire broke out in their home yesterday afternoon.

According to officials, Swansea firefighters responded to the area of Birchwood Drive after multiple 911 calls were received reporting a fire on the rear porch of a residence around 1:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officials observed the single-family home heavily involved with fire rapidly extending to the interior.

The fire was under control in about 20 minutes, but firefighters remained on scene checking for further extension and extinguishing hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the preliminary investigation suggests it was accidental.
