Crews battle heavy fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Firefighters battled a heavy fire on Althea Street in Providence on Thursday morning.

The two-alarm fire was called in around 6:15 a.m.

According to officials, the fire started at the back of the building and spread up.

Residents were evacuated next door for fears of the fire spreading.

Fire officials said there was a previous fire at this location behind the home.

The fire remains under investigation.
