Swansea Police find ‘no credible threat’ in social media posts made by high schooler

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — The Swansea Police Department said that an investigation found no credible threats among a number of “non-specific social media threats” made by a high school student.

The department said multiple students spoke to Joseph Case High School Athletic Director Anthony Palladino on Sept. 11 about several threats a student made on social media.

The school then contacted the police, who identified the student and visited their home, and determined they had “no means” to carry out the threats.

Police added that the student has been removed from the school.

No criminal charges have been filed and Swansea Public Schools said it will be handling the matter internally.

An increased police presence will also be in place at the school.
