West Nile Virus detected in Westerly, East Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) announced Friday that West Nile Virus has been detected in two state communities.
Mosquito samples collected from Westerly and East Providence tested positive for the virus, according to DEM, with 114 samples being collected from 26 traps set statewide between August 27 and September 3.
All other samples tested negative for West Nile, EEE and Jamestown Canyon Virus.
