Mansfield suspect accused of dragging officer with his car in court; faces 23 charges

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — A man accused of injuring three officers during a drug investigation in Mansfield appeared in court Friday.

North Attleboro police say they were attempting to serve arrest warrants at the Red Roof Inn on Forbes Boulevard when the suspect, Kevin Burke, tried to drive off dragging an officer with his car.

Burke was then shot by police, who later tracked him down and arrested him in North Attleboro.

In court we’ve learned Burke is being held as a fugitive of justice with no bail.

He’s due in court once again on September 20th.

He faces 23 charges including:

  • Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon
  • Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving with revoked license
  • License plate violation to conceal
  • Distribution of a class B drug-subsequent offense
  • Trafficking fentanyl
  • Possession of a class B drug
  • Assault and battery with dangerous weapon
  • Assault and battery with dangerous weapon
  • Driving with revoked license
  • License plate violation to conceal
  • Negligent operation of a MV
  • Failure to stop for police
  • Uninsured motor vehicle
  • Unregistered motor vehicle
  • Resisting arrest
  • Assault and battery on police officer
  • Assault and battery on police officer
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Disturbing the peace
  • Receiving stolen property
  • Shoplifting
  • Fugitive from justice
