34th IGT Downtown 5K ran in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The 34th annual IGT Downtown 5K was run in Providence on Sunday.

Organizers said the race is one of the oldest in the Ocean State, and featured live music along the course.

“This race is part of the Rhode Island Grand Prix series, it’s a group of races where you can kind of compete with other people and with other teams,” runner and Providence College Professor of Health Sciences Brett Ely said.

The race’s route brought runners along the Providence River.
