Washington Bridge demolition work to reroute traffic
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is temporarily closing Waterfront Drive in East Providence Tuesday night.
The closure will be at the I-195 overpass for bridge deck and beam demolition of the old Washington Bridge.
The closure will be in effect starting at 10 p.m. tonight and it will last until Monday morning.
According to RIDOT, demolition work, including the use of jackhammers, will be limited to daytime hours only.
RIDOT will also continue the evening closures of Gano Street at the I-195 overpass beginning next week.
