Bridgewater inmate dies from possible assault

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — A 47-year-old incarcerated individual at the Old Colony Correctional Center was pronounced dead on Sunday, September 15th.
At approximately 3:20 pm, staff at the facility responded to his cell for a report of a medical emergency, according to Scott J. Croteau, a representative for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The individual was found unresponsive, suffering from a possible assault, allegedly committed by another incarcerated individual.
Staff immediately administered medical aid to the individual, who was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
This incident is under investigation by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives, and the Massachusetts Department of Correction.
The name of the deceased individual is not being released at this time
