Bicyclist injured in alleged DUI crash in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A bicyclist was injured last night in Smithfield after being hit by a drunk driver, according to police.

It happened last night around 8:35 p.m. when police responded to the area of 135 Pleasant View Avenue.

The bicyclist was critically injured and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

38-year-old Lance Nicoletti was taken into custody and charged with a DUI resulting in bodily injury, and driving to endanger, resulting in bodily injury.

He was held without bail today in a separate case.
