East Bridgewater man arrested after allegedly attempting to run over multiple people

EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — An East Bridgewater resident was arrested following an alleged road rage incident on Sunday, according to police.
61-year-old Alan Eugene Stec is facing multiple charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
According to officials, the incident happened at around 12:00 p.m. when police received a 911 call for a report of a road rage incident in the on Washington Street.
A driver had allegedly struck another vehicle and was attempting to hit multiple people who were on foot with his car, according to the caller.
Upon arrival, officers located a damaged vehicle that refused to stop for officers.
The car allegedly continued onto a lawn, then narrowly missed a police cruiser and oncoming traffic on Washington Street.
The driver continued driving into the backyard of a home, refusing multiple orders from officers to stop.
The operator of the vehicle, later identified as Stec, eventually exited the vehicle near a wooded area behind the home and attempted to flee on foot.
When Stec refused commands to stop, an officer deployed their taser.
Stec spit on officers after he was taken into custody.
He was held on $250,000 bail at the police station pending his arraignment.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
