EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Showing up to City Hall with injuries he says he sustained from a fall while pruning a tree, Councilman Brian Faria denies the concerning claims against him.
His 10-hour overnight stay in city hall he says is common practice. He also says, that Friday night in April when cameras caught him leaving city hall around 5:00 on a Saturday morning, that he was doing legislative duties.
Police say he had photocopied at least 250 documents including public record requests. Faria says that’s not true. He also refutes claims from Human Resources that city employees reported harassment and complained about the way Faria treated them.
He says they’re all part of a political stunt spearheaded by former city manager Tim Chapman.
State Police have dropped their investigation into Faria’s actions but East Providence Police are still investigating whether or not personal information was taken from city hall.
Faria says he won’t rule out suing the city if he has to.
