Fall River Police arrest man in connection with business break-ins

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said a man was arrested in connection with a series of breaks into businesses between Sept. 20 and Sept. 25.

41-year-old Alexander Botelho was charged with animal cruelty, breaking and entering in the nighttime, and  larceny from a building, as well as shoplifting, larceny under $1,200, and breaking and entering a vehicle/boat in the daytime for a previous arrest warrant.

Police responded to a residence on Stafford Road on Oct. 1 to find Botelho, who was previously identified as a suspect in the break-ins, allegedly “engaged in a physical altercation with a male.”

He was arrested on scene for also allegedly whipping a dog with a leash.

The break-ins occurred the Dunkin Donuts on Rhode Island Avenue, the Dunkin Donuts on Brayton Avenue, and the Golden Food Mart on Rodman Street.
