Police investigate a shooting in front of Providence home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police say they are investigating a shooting Monday on Metcalf Street.

Col. Oscar Perez, Chief of the Providence Police Department, said detectives found a small amount of blood and part of a firearm on the front steps of a house, but no victims at the scene.

Shortly after establishing a crime scene, police received a call about a man who walked into Rhode Island Hospital with a gunshot wound to his calf, but gave a different location for where he was shot.

Police said he is uncooperative in their investigation, and his injury is non-life threatening.

There is currently no information about a suspect.

Police believe the incident is targeted, and witnesses have been taken into custody for questioning.

ABC 6 News crews on the scene reported seeing police with long guns and evidence markers, along with several cruisers blocking the street.

A neighbor told ABC 6 that he heard arguing, and then four loud bangs.
