RIPTA holding open house for rapid transit study
CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will hold an open house at the Cranston Senior Center October 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for Rhode Islanders to weigh in on rapid transit options to connect several cities and towns.
The new service would connect Cumberland, Central Falls, Pawtucket, Providence, Cranston and Warwick.
The Metro Connector study will look into options for light rail and bus services between these communities.
RIPTA hopes to determine the best routes and types of transit, station locations, cost estimates and to identify the benefits of the project.
