PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The full senate easily passed the state’s 9.6 billion dollar spending plan, by a 34 to 2 vote.
The state budget now heads to the governor who is expected to sign it.This budget includes money from sports betting, restores funding to human services, and borrows 250-million dollars for school repairs.
The senate did not make any changes to the house version.
But even with the budget work now finished, there is still work to be done before the session wraps up for the year.
Senator Dominick Ruggerio says, "We have some things that we’re going over now with the House as far as legislation. So we’ll be doing that for the next day or two. And hopefully we can get out of here on Friday with having a great session this year."
