Walgreens to close 1,200 locations

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Walgreens has announced they’ll be closing 1,200 locations over the next three years.
According to a representative, the stores that are closing are “not profitable to their business.”
The business contributed to a $3 billion quarterly loss.
According to Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc., 500 stores will close this year.
At this time, the representative said they don’t have details to share on specific locations.
CEO Tim Wentworth said in a statement that fiscal 2025 will be an important “rebasing year” for Walgreens.
“This turnaround will take time, but we are confident it will yield significant financial and consumer benefits over the long term,” he commented.
