Car that lost control while driving snaps pole in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Smithfield Fire Department said an accident that shut down part of Putnam Pike on Oct. 18 was caused by a vehicle losing control.

The department said the vehicle was traveling westbound near Auston Avenue when it struck a power pole and a fence in front of the Greenville Baptist Church.

Six people who where in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Police are investigating the incident.
