Man killed in I-95 crash in Richmond, mom and son injured
RICHMOND, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was killed last night in a crash that happened on I-95 northbound in Richmond.
According to Rhode Island State Police, the call came in around 6:50 p.m.
Officials said a 16-year-old and his mother were driving a car, towing another car behind them.
In the car they were towing was a man steering the vehicle, identified as the father and husband.
Witnesses told police the family was going well below the “minimum” speed limit and the lights were not on the car.
Police said a construction truck hit the man’s car from behind.
The 51-year-old man was taken to the hospital where has pronounced dead.
Both the 16-year-old and his mother had minor injuries.
The highway was shut down until 10:15 p.m.
The driver of the truck is not expected to face any charges.
At this time, the crash is an active investigation.
