Two men accused in gift card scam to appear in court in South Kingstown

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Two men accused of taking part in a gift card scam are due in court this morning.

Quanbin Huang, 45, and Zhixiong Lu, 46, were charged with forgery and counterfeiting, conspiracy and obtaining property by false pretenses.

After issuing a search warrant on their vehicle and three boxes, South Kingstown police seized 1,848 suspected tampered gift cards, as well as 935 gift cards from CVS.

Both men from New York are Chinese nationals, also facing immigration charges.

They’ll be arraigned this morning in Washington County Superior Court.
