Easton Police arrest alleged package thief

EASTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Easton Police Department arrested a Haverhill man after investigating a recent escalation in package theft.
26-year-old Aneudy Jose Nunez-Diaz was taken into custody without incident on Oct. 18 for allegedly stealing packages from residents.
Easton police said it observed the defendant stealing a package from a home, and after further investigation said he was hiding a package containing an Apple iPhone, as well as other alleged stolen packages from nearby towns.
Nunez-Diaz is charged with larceny under $1,200, receiving stolen property over $1,200, and other offenses, according to the Easton Police Department.
Easton police said it advises residents to be aware of package thieves in the community, and gives tips on how to protect your packages:
- Track deliveries to know when mail is arriving
- Request signature confirmation
- Install security cameras to identify suspects
- Use a secure drop-off location such as a package locker service
- Alert neighbors and report suspicious activity
