Dartmouth students win honorable mention for MassDOT contest

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced the winners of the 11th annual Safe Streets Smart Trips high school video contest.
In the contest, high school students created their own videos to present roadway safety that aim to decrease injuries and fatalities in pedestrians and bicyclist, according to MassDOT.
The contest was part of an initiative to promote safe walking, as well as bicycling and driving behaviors.
On Wednesday afternoon, the six finalists’ videos were shown at MassDOT’s 2024 Moving Together Conference.
Two groups from Dartmouth High School had their videos chosen as honorable mentions.
For the freshman and sophomore category, Bryce Clancy, Ava Arruda, and Anna Spinelli created “Buckle, Watch, & Cross.”
Molly Bell and Percy Nadeau, in the junior and senior category, created “Empathy on the Road.”
The videos are planned to be posted on the Roadway Safety Video Contest Results page.
