More Federal Funding For Washington Bridge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Newly released data from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation has analyzed the noise levels during overnight demolition of the bridge.

The report states that from Sunday through Tuesday, noise levels remained within an acceptable threshold.

The noise levels were the loudest around midnight, when it nearly reached 75 decibels.

According to a study by Yale Environmental Health and Safety, 75 decibels is compared to the sound of a vacuum cleaner.

According to the Rhode Island State Department of Transportation, noise levels are not permitted to reach above 90 decibels, which is considered the level where sustained exposure could result in hearing loss for people nearby.
