Gas prices hover below $3 in Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Gas prices in Rhode Island have ticked down under $3 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast.
The average price of gas stands at $2.97 a gallon, which is two cents lower than last month ago, 53 cents lower than a year ago and 16 cents lower than the national average.
The prices can be attributed to oil markets on shaky ground because of continued conflict in the Middle East.
Robust domestic oil and gas production is also a factor in the current price in the Ocean State.
