Attleboro mayor calls for residents to observe water use restrictions
ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The mayor of Attleboro is urging city residents to observe water conservation restrictions in the face of low rainfall and reservoir levels.
In a statement, Mayor Cathleen Desimone said that Attleboro, on a ten year average Attleboro has received almost a foot less of rainfall since June.
Mayor Desimone also stated that the city’s reservoir levels “are becoming a critical concern.”
Residents and businesses are urged to follow indoor and outdoor water use restrictions, as are city departments.
To conserve water, the Mayor’s office suggested:
- Only running full dishwasher and laundry loads
- Wiping dishes instead of rinsing before loading the dishwasher
- Washing produce with a damp cloth instead of rinsing under the tap
- Shutting off the water when brushing teeth and shaving
- Not using the toilet to flush trash, and only flushing when needed
- If there is a choice to use a low volume flush on the toilet, it should be used
- Taking shorter showers or not filling the bath to as deep a level when bathing
- Upgrading fixtures to low flow options when performing plumbing work
