4 displaced, dog dies after fire at North Providence home

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Two firefighters were hurt and a dog died following a reported explosion and fire at a home on Digiulio Drive.

The American Red Cross is now helping the displaced family.

According to Assistant Fire Chief John Horan, two firefighters are being treated for minor burns.

As the weather gets colder, and heaters are being used, Horan reminded residents to stay on top of safeguards in their home.

“Make sure you have smoke detectors, make sure they’re working, if you do have a fire in the house get out of the house let the firemen come in and do what they have to do,” he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
