Special Olympics Rhode Island hosts inaugural Law Enforcement Torch Run Unified Walk

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Special Olympics Rhode Island hosted its inaugural Law Enforcement Torch Run Unified Walk on Saturday.
The walk began at 10 a.m. at Warwick City Park and coincided with a 24-Hour Super Walk.
Organizers said that participants included over 50 recruits from the 143rd Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy Class as well as Special Olympics athletes from around the state, who walked a full 3-mile lap around the park.
Participants in the 24-hour walk will walk continuously around the park until midnight, and will then head north to Special Olympics Rhode Island’s office in Smithfield.
Organizers added that the walk aims to create awareness and raise funds for Special Olympics Rhode Island.
