Auchincloss says cost-of-living drove Bristol County to even split in election

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Unofficial election results in Bristol County, Massachusetts indicate the vote was split nearly evenly between Vice President Kamala Harris and President-elect Donald Trump.

The results are a significant change over an eight year period for a county that voted Hillary Clinton plus-10 and Joe Biden plus-12 in the prior two elections.

Rep. Jake Auchincloss said that cost-of-living was what most likely drove the change.

“We need an agenda that is resonant and audacious to lower the cost of living, particularly in housing, in healthcare, and in utilities bills,” he said. “Those three together account for the majority of the share of wallet for most families.”

The Congressman said he hopes Democrats will also make an effort to go on more podcasts, Twitch chats, and the like, and not rely solely on traditional media to get their message out.
