Swansea Police arrest man on OUI charge after crash

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — The Swansea Police Department said it arrested a North Dighton man after a crash on Nov. 9.

67-year-old Gary Silva was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for a red light, and marked lane violation.

Police responded to Grand Army of the Republic Highway around 8:45 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash.

An investigation alleged that Silva was driving at a high rate of speed, ran through a red light, and crashed into the wooded area behind a gas station at the intersection of Route 118 and Route 6.

No injuries occurred as part of the crash.
