PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said an officer was involved in a crash early Sunday morning.

26-year-old Billy Bryant was charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, illegal U-turn, and no insurance.

An officer was driving with his lights and sirens on to assist at a scene around 2 a.m. when Bryant allegedly took an abrupt U-turn and caused the collision.

The officer was taken to the hospital and later released.
