Crews respond to brush fire in Johnston

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Crews responded to a brush fire in Johnston this morning.

As of 9:20 a.m., crews had the fire contained to two acres on Matthew Street.

They’re also currently soaking down the affected area.

The department had responded to the same area for a brush fire on Saturday.

According to officials, when crews arrived on scene this morning, they found the additional acres burning.

Fire officials said the burn is deep into the woods and up an embankment.

Because they were unable to access the area with our apparatus, officials had to carry all needed equipment through the woods and run water lines from the trucks up to the affected area.

No injuries have been reported.
