Man hit, killed by truck in East Greenwich

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — A 60-year-old male from West Warwick died on Saturday after he was hit by a car while walking on Division Road in East Greenwich, according to police.

Officials said it happened around 7:30 p.m. when a Toyota Tundra struck the male, who was wearing dark clothing and believed to have crossed the road at Extended Stay.

Police and Fire administered medical aid on scene to the male, who was subsequently transported to Kent County Hospital where he was declared deceased.

The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

Police said speed does not appear to be a factor.

The incident remains under investigation.
