Scituate man sentenced to state prison in child molestation case

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Scituate man was sentenced November 6 in Providence County Superior Court after being convicted of sexually assaulting a female victim multiple times in 2021.

Mark Salerno, 42, pleaded nolo contendere to two counts of first-degree child molestation and was sentenced to 13 years in state prison.

A no-contact order was also issued between Salerno and the victim, who was under the age of 14 at the time of the assaults.

The victim was known to Salerno when he assaulted her multiple times between January and April of 2021 in Scituate.
