Soaking rain on the way to help relieve drought

One last beautiful day is in store for Wednesday before big changes to our weather.

A soaking rain arrives on Thursday morning, marking likely the first time since September we pick up over an inch of rain. Our latest forecast has trended even higher.

This is great for a drought situation, but too much heavy rain at once will lead to excessive runoff.

That coupled with clogged up drains or catch basins from fallen leaves will likely lead to localized road flooding.

Showers will linger on Friday, with any rain being on the lighter side. Meanwhile, accumulating snow is likely to fall well to our west as colder air surges in behind the storm.

This will keep daytime temperatures in the 40s through the start of the weekend. It will turn windy on Sunday, continuing the cold start to the week.

Temperatures will moderate for the leadup to Thanksgiving. I do see another opportunity for rain either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, which could impact holiday travel.
