Watch of Chiefs’ player Travis Kelce found in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Authorities have recovered a watch belonging to tight-end Travis Kelce in Providence, according to sources with ABC.

The homes of Patrick Mahomes and Kelce were recently burglarized, along with the homes of Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks, and Mile Conley of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Burglars allegedly stole $20,000 in cash from Kelce, and caused $1,000 in damage to his back door.

Officials have said an international crime ring could be responsible for the break-ins of high profile athletes.

The NFL issued a security alert to teams and the players’ union on Thursday following recent burglaries involving the homes of Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, according to the Associated Press.

Recently states including California, Colorado, and Michigan have also reported break-ins allegedly carried out by South American gangs over the past few months.

In California, authorities warning about so-called “burglary tourism,” when criminals from other countries, enter the U.S. tourist visas, and Target upscale neighborhoods.

Police said four men, Colombian nationals, hid cameras in plants outside homes to monitor activity, and used WiFi signal jammers to disrupt security systems and prevent cell-phone use in the homes they targeted.

Providence police have since confirmed that their department is not involved with the investigation.

“I have been looking into it to see if anything comes up,” said Chief Oscar Perez.

“It’s not unusual, these high profile incidents so you just don’t know. It’s just the nature of crime, sometimes criminals move around. Again I’m just assuming, it’s not something solid that I know,” he said.
