PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Big Blue Bug continued the tradition of kicking-off Rhode Island’s holiday season with the 32nd annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony Monday night.

The 58-feet-long, nine-feet-tall bug over I-95 was created back in 1980, and named “Nibbles Woodaway” in 1990.

87-year-old Geraldine Perry, who named Nibbles in a contest, was this year’s honorary lighter.
