Crews battle early morning fire at 99 Restaurant in Easton

EASTON, Mass. (WLNE)- Firefighters in Easton responded to a fire at a restaurant early Saturday morning.
Chief Kevin Partridge said crews responded to a report of a mulch fire at the 99 Restaurant just after 4:30 a.m.
Partridge said Easton Police had been called to the restaurant a few minutes earlier for a motion alarm activation. When officers arrived, they found the mulch surrounding the restaurant and nearby rags had caught fire.
Crews from Brockton, Stoughton, and West Bridgewater responded to the scene to provide additional help.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames that spread into the attic area of the restaurant.
Partridge said the scene was cleared by 8 a.m. and there were no injures.
The 99 Restaurant sustained both water, smoke, and fire damage throughout the building. According to Partridge, the establishment is expected to close for the next week to two weeks.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Easton Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
