Four companies submit qualifications for rebuild of Washington Bridge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Four companies have responded to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation’s request for qualifications to rebuild the Washington Bridge.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation initiated a two-step procurement process for the replacement of the bridge this time, after no companies submitted bids for reconstruction over the summer.

The deadline for bids ended Tuesday, Nov. 26.

The companies that responded included:

  • American Bridge MLJ — A Joint Venture
  • Halmar International LLC
  • Skanska – Aetna Joint Venture
  • Walsh Construction Company II, LLC

The next step for RIDOT is to narrow down the companies, in which their feedback will incorporated into an addendum to a final RFP and posted on Jan. 24, 2025.

Demolition of the bridge is set to continue into 2025.
